Another reflection from this relationship is how unguarded I allowed myself to become. I do not regret it as my feelings were genuine, and it felt good to offer them to someone I believed valued them. Yet after the breakup, I found myself questioning where I might have gone wrong, as one often does after a painful ending.
The painting depicts a man who has given his heart, only to have it discarded without his knowledge. He faces a choice: remain standing, cautious but able to reclaim his heart intact, or sit down and let his guard fall—risking the heart being crushed by a broken chair leg.
So in love, is it safer to stay standing, or is it worth sitting in the chair?
